    How long does it take?

    We can often scan many flights of stairs in a day. The time needed is primarily dependent on the size of the scan scope area.  3D laser scanning services are ideal for staircases because of the flexibility that is possible with the scanner’s placement. Our scanners are extremely portable and our technicians can bring the scanner to the construction site to capture whatever you need. 

    How accurate is a 3D scan of a staircase?

    Generally the scans are accurate to within 1mm and can capture features on the staircase in high detail. It is even possible to capture color, such as if there are marks on the staircase that are of interest. The scanner can capture holes and grooves for mounting hardware and glass panels. What it will not capture is the smile on the customer’s face when they see how perfectly and beautifully everything fits, and how quickly and efficiently you have implemented the job.

    There are several types of files that can be produced as a result of performing 3D scanning services on a staircase, including:

  • STL mesh surface
  • As-built generic model in STP/IGES/DWG
  • As-built Revit model
