The customer needed updated drawings for an engineering project. The plant is extremely large and complex, but the 3D laser scanning process is able to tackle these difficult environments. The scanning needed to take place while the plant was in operation, which adds to the challenge. Laser scanners can utilized in a manner that causes no interruptions to the work activities at the plant.
Tripod-based scanning was chosen due to the accuracy and versatility of the process. Tripods can be set up in tight spots to get maximum coverage of essential areas. Cloud-to-cloud registration minimizes setup time while still delivering the necessary accuracy. The data was aligned to customer-provided survey points.

Arrival 3D registration technicians utilized Cyclone Register360 to process the scan data.
A full color, registered Autodesk ReCap point cloud was provided to the customer. This industry-standard format is usable in a variety of CAD packages, enabling their engineers to utilize the point cloud as an as-built reference.
